Description
The goal of the Colorado Ownership, Management, and Protection (COMaP) project at the Natural Resource Ecology Lab (NREL) is to build a statewide protected areas map for Colorado. Knowing the location and pattern of various protected areas is a key piece of information to inform management of many natural resources in Colorado. It was quite challenging to synthesize data from all the various Federal, State and local agencies. Land ownership and management are very dynamic facets of natural local agencies resource management and stewardship. New datasets are continually under development and will be incorporated into COMaP as available. COMaP can only represent a snapshot in time based on the multiple datasets used as input.
