Description
The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act (Act) Amendments established a strong emphasis on preventing contamination problems affecting public water systems and their consumers. The revised statute provides for he sustainable use of source water, and helps ensure delivery of continuously safe drinking water by providing the means to improve the technical, managerial and financial capacity of public water systems. The Act also anticipates that the capacity development program will address both new and existing public water systems.
